I see your point, but … ne demek?
"I see your point, but …." Türkçede "Ne demek istediğini anlıyorum ama …." demektir ve karşı fikre saygı gösterip kibarca itiraz etmenin dengeli bir yoludur. Bir öneriye ya da görüşe katılmadan önce onun anlaşıldığını göstermek, ardından bir çekince söylemek için kullanılır. Okunuşu "ay si yor poynt, bat …." şeklindedir. Örneğin "I see your point, but the data says something different." (ay si yor poynt, bat dı deydı sez samting difrınt.) cümlesi "Ne demek istediğini anlıyorum ama veriler başka bir şey söylüyor." demektir. "but" sözcüğünden sonra itirazı taşıyan tam bir cümle gelir: it's too expensive, the client wants it now, it's a bit risky gibi. Bu cümleye "still" eklenerek görüşün değişmediği vurgulanabilir. B1 seviyesindeki bu kalıp toplantılarda, bütçe ve zamanlama tartışmalarında ve müşteri talepleri konuşulurken sık geçer. En yaygın hata "I'm seeing your point, but it's too expensive." demektir; doğrusu "I see your point, but it's too expensive." biçimidir. Burada "see" fiili "anlamak" anlamındadır ve Türkçede "anlıyorum" dense de İngilizcede sürekli zamanla kullanılmaz.
